Kansas City – Charges have been filed against a Missouri mother who allegedly left her four young children at home alone during tornado warnings issued Friday.
Crystal Ray of St. Ann is accused of endangering the welfare of children, posing a significant risk, and resisting arrest.
According to the charging documents, Ray left the children, ages 8, 5, 3, and 8 months, while the tornado sirens were sounding.
According to police, the children were left alone for several hours, during which time power outages and brush fires occurred in their area.
A concerned family member contacted police, who reported that Ray appeared intoxicated and hit and kicked the responding officers.
