An Owosso resident was taken into custody following the discovery of multiple drugs and firearms at their home, according to the Michigan State Police (MSP).

The investigation began when a School Resource Officer with the Owosso Department of Public Safety flagged a potential drug trafficking issue to the MSP’s Mid-Michigan Area Group Narcotics Enforcement Team (MAGNET).

Investigation and Search Warrant Execution

Through the combined efforts of MAGNET detectives and the Owosso Department of Public Safety, a suspect was identified. With sufficient evidence gathered, MAGNET executed a search warrant at the individual’s residence, leading to the discovery of an array of illegal substances and firearms.

Items Seized

During the search, MSP reported the following items were seized:

ItemDetails
DrugsPsilocybin (“magic” mushrooms), LSD, cocaine, methamphetamine, several analogues, marijuana
FirearmsFour rifles, two pistols

The variety of controlled substances suggests an operation that included hallucinogens, stimulants, and narcotics, contributing to the charges the suspect may face.

Legal Process and Charges

Following the search, the suspect was taken into custody, processed, and subsequently released while authorities await a formal review by the Shiawassee County Prosecutor’s Office. The review will determine specific charges based on the evidence gathered in the search.

Law Enforcement Partnerships

This case highlights effective collaboration between school resource officers and state law enforcement, with early intervention from local agencies being critical in addressing suspected drug activity in the community.
