New Social Security Payment Schedule for 2025 Announced With Increments

In 2025, Social Security beneficiaries can expect a 2.5% increase in their monthly checks. While this anticipated rise is consistent with analyst predictions, it is significantly smaller than the increases seen in recent years.

This change indicates a moderation in inflation compared to previous years. In 2024, recipients received a 3.2% increase in benefits, following a significant 8.7% increase in 2023 due to inflation levels not seen in over four decades.

With the start of the new year, Social Security beneficiaries can expect another round of payments. Monthly payments from the Social Security Administration (SSA) are crucial for many, with different schedules based on specific criteria.

Understanding SSI Payment Schedule

The SSA makes regular monthly payments based on a schedule that is largely determined by your birth date. Social Security retirement, disability, and survivor (RSDI) beneficiaries who filed claims after May 1, 1997 will receive payments on the second, third, or fourth Wednesday of each month.

Individuals with disabilities and older adults receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI) typically receive monthly payments on the first of the month.

If the first falls on a weekend or a holiday, payments are typically made on the preceding weekday. Additionally, recipients who started receiving benefits before May 1997 have a set payment date.

Social Security Payment Schedule for January 2025

Here is when beneficiaries can expect to receive their monthly payments in January:

  • SSA beneficiaries who started receiving benefits before May 1997: January 3
  • Birthday between the 1st and 10th of the month: January 8 (Second Wednesday of the month)
  • Birthday between the 11th and 20th of the month: January 15 (Third Wednesday of the month)
  • Birthday between the 21st and 31st of the month: January 22 (Fourth Wednesday of the month)

The Social Security Administration will distribute this month’s SSI payment on New Year’s Eve, December 31, as January 1st is a holiday.
