Biden says it is terrible that Trump is seeking to do away with United State birthright citizenship

Washington – U.S. President Joe Biden said Sunday that he thought it was terrible that President-elect Donald Trump was attempting to abolish birthright citizenship in the United States.

Speaking to reporters at the White House, Biden said the transition to Trump’s government appeared to be going well, but he suspected there was an internal issue with Trump’s team regarding the handover.

When asked about the anniversary of the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the United States Capitol, Biden said what Trump did was a “genuine threat to democracy.”

Trump falsely claimed that he had won the 2020 election and urged his supporters to visit the Capitol that day.

“It should not be rewritten,” Biden stated on January 6. “I don’t think it should be forgotten.”

Biden stated that white supremacy was one of several threats to the United States.

“We are the most diverse nation in the world. It is the reason we are so strong. “It’s what makes us who we are,” Biden said.

Trump told NBC last month that he intends to use executive action on his first day in office to try to end birthright citizenship, which grants citizenship to anyone born in the United States regardless of their parents’ immigration status.

“The idea that we’re going to change a constitutional birthright — if you’re born in the country, you’re not a citizen? “What is going on?” Biden said.

Biden, a Democrat, chastised Trump, a Republican, for discouraging lawmakers from voting for a bipartisan immigration bill that Biden supported to strengthen border security. “This is ridiculous. “It’s ridiculous,” Biden stated.

In the 2024 election, Trump used immigration as a key issue to rally his base, and he won by defeating Democratic presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris.
