'Jealous' man plows into fiancee's ex at 90 mph with his truck after the dirt-bike rider revved up his engine

A 54-year-old Michigan man has been sentenced to 35 to 55 years in prison for hitting and killing his fiancee’s ex-partner, a lifelong dirt biker, with his truck last year after the 29-year-old revved his bike at him.

During the man’s trial, prosecutors allegedly described the murder as a “crime of jealousy” and “passion,” adding, “It’s unfortunate that it costs him his life.”

“This case is over a year old,” said Isabella County prosecutor David Barberi after Allen Sprague was found guilty last month, according to local CBS affiliate WWTV. “I’m just happy for the family that they can finally begin the healing process. And some justice has been upheld.

Last week, Isabella County Chief Judge Eric Janes sentenced Sprague to concurrent sentences for second-degree murder, felony assault, failure to stop at the scene of an accident when at fault, and reckless driving resulting in death in connection with the killing of Dylon Andras and the attempted murder of a friend who joined Andras in revving dirt bikes and was pursued by Sprague as well.

On Oct. 25, 2023, around 9:15 a.m., deputies from the Isabella County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the crash scene in the 7000 block of West Stevenson Lake Road in Coldwater Township. According to prosecutors, Sprague was convicted of chasing and running over Andras at speeds of more than 90 mph.

Sprague told police that he and his wife, who was previously in a relationship with Andras, were inside their home in the 7000 block of West Stevenson Lake Road when they heard Andras and a friend rev their engines outside.

Sprague stated that he went out in his truck to chase Andras and his friend down after “things” started “hitting the house.”

He claimed Andras turned in front of him prior to the fatal collision, which he said was unavoidable. During the trial, a witness claimed that Sprague purposefully “run over” Andras — and the other rider — and that Andras never turned in front of him.

Sprague’s fiancee was allegedly in the truck with him when he killed Andras, but she was not charged. Jurors did not believe Sprague’s claim that she was behind the wheel. It reportedly only took two hours to convict him.
