DURAND RESIDENT Terry Atwell, of TWA Fence in Durand, is the winner of the Lennon Lions Homecoming Tractor Raffle. Atwell, who bought his winning ticket at Riverside Market in Durand, opted to take the $3,500 cash prize instead of the Cub Cadet Z-Force S Zero-Turn Rider shown.

“I actually just bought a tractor from Wade (Alderman) four years ago,” shared Atwell. “Besides changing the oil and blades, I haven’t had one issue with it, so I won’t be needing a lawn mower anytime in the near future. Even though this is a great machine, as Alderman’s products usually are, I will be able to make better use of the money.”

The Lennon Lions held their 45th annual homecoming celebration on Saturday, July 21 and Sunday, July 22, which included a car show, a kiddie pedal pull, a concert featuring Paving Allison, a parade, pie eating and horse shoe throwing contests, a chicken BBQ and a pancake breakfast, among other forms of entertainment.

The Lennon Lions would like to thank everyone who bought a ticket for this year’s raffle, as well as all the businesses that allowed the group to sell raffle tickets on their premises. Those businesses include Riverside Market in Durand, Bueche’s Food World in Flushing, VG’s Grocery in Owosso and Fenton, and Kroger in Swartz Creek.

Atwell’s winning ticket was No. 0617. Four other tickets were also drawn, with each ticket owner receiving $100. The 2nd-place ticket (No. 0149) belonged to M. Webb of Durand, the 3rd-place ticket (No. 1056) belonged to H. Root of Flushing, the 4th-place ticket (No. 0885) belonged to A. Perry of Flushing and the 5th-place ticket (No. 1131) belonged to B. DeClerg of Durand.
