Security First Benefits Corp. is sponsoring the 2nd annual Walt Widder Memorial Golf Scramble on Saturday, Sept. 30 at Dutch Hollow Golf Course, 8500 Lansing Rd. in Durand. The fundraising event is a four-person scramble. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. with the shotgun start at 10 a.m. The cost is $260 per foursome, which includes green fees and cart, a sleeve of balls, a hotdog and chips at the turn, and a steak dinner following 18 holes of golf.
Prizes will be awarded to the 1st-, 2nd-, and 3rd-place teams, as well as to one lucky random team. There will be prizes for closest to the pin, longest drive, and longest putt contests, and there will be a 50/50 raffle. There are still $100 hole sponsorships available. The proceeds will benefit the programs of the West Flint Optimist Club (WFOC). Two of Walt’s passions were golf and the WFOC. He was instrumental in helping the club with the Whaley Boys and Girls Club, Special Olympics, Michigan School for the Deaf, and much more.
