Wait, what New Michigan law allows you to miss work without calling in

Michigan business owners are freaking out about a bizarre new law that will go into effect next month.

We’ve told you in recent weeks about several new laws coming to Michigan this year, including a new sick time policy.

A different policy was slipped into the new sick time policy, which many people are unaware of because it has received little attention.

It all falls under paid leave and minimum wage legislation, and some of the details are disturbing. It’s no surprise that some Michigan business owners are riled up—and rightly so.

New Michigan Law Gives Workers 3 No-Call Days

Listen to this: You can go three days without calling or showing up for work and not be fired. This might be one of Michigan’s craziest new laws. When I first heard about it, I doubted it was true. I’m not going to lie, I’m still skeptical because it appears so radical.

According to News Max, the framework allows employees to no-call-no-show for multiple shifts while remaining protected from termination. Say what?

While that may appear absurd, we’re not finished yet. Get this: if a boss or manager attempts to discipline someone for doing this, the business owner may be fined by the state of Michigan.

How was this approved?

This sets a poor example of the values that should be promoted in the workplace.

The new law takes effect in February.
