USA MASTERS CHAMP – Perry High School English and Social Studies teacher Steve Bentley competed in the USA Track Michigan Masters State Championships for the fourth time Sunday, March 6 at the University of Michigan. In addition to winning state championships in the shot put and long jump competitions, Bentley also won state championships and set state records in the 60-meter hurdles (his 10.4-second time bested Royce Kinnibrew’s 2014 time of 11.36) and the triple jump with a distance of 32 feet and two inches. Bentley has won 15 gold medals in his four years of competition and one bronze. He set his state records in the 40 to 44-year-old age group on March 6, and he also owns the 60-meter state record in the 30 to 34-year-old age group, as well as the triple jump state record in the 30 to 34-year-old age group and the 35 to 39-year-old age group.
