UPDATE A large police presence surrounds a property in Holt

HOLT, Michigan – The heavy police presence on Tollard Ave. in Holt was due to a mental health crisis.

The Ingham County Sheriff’s Office informed News 10 that they responded to a shots fired incident at 4589 Tolland Ave. around 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 9.

When police arrived at the scene, they were told that a 44-year-old male was experiencing a mental health crisis and had shot a gun in the air while outside. The male then went inside with the gun, while the family remained inside.

According to police, the family members inside the home were able to leave unharmed.

After an hour and a half on the scene, police were able to separate the 44-year-old from the gun.

Nobody was injured during the incident, and the male was not arrested.
