Shiawassee County’s unemployment rate for September has dropped to 4.3 percent, according to data released Thursday afternoon, Oct. 22, by the state Department of Technology, Management and Budget Bureau of Labor Market Information & Strategic Initiatives.
The data listed Shiawassee County’s labor force at 33,050 for September with 31,625 employed and 1,425 out of work and looking for a job.
That compares to the 1,575 unemployed for 4.8 percent of the labor force in August this year; 2,025 unemployed in September 2014 when the unemployment rate was 6.1 percent.
“This is really great news!” said Shiawassee Economic Development Partnership President/CEO Justin Horvath on Thursday afternoon.
