TOYS FOR TOTS – Tim Hortons in Owosso was the scene for this check presentation Tuesday, Dec. 15, from the Owosso Fire Department to Shiawassee County’s Toys For Tots, which totaled $1,458. The donation was raised by the fire department’s work at Tim Hortons Friday, Dec. 11, when department volunteers “shook the boot” for the local charity.

Shown are (from left): Owosso Fire Department Captain Ron Malott in the amazing Christmas sweater, Tim Hortons owner Chris Passmore, city of Owosso Public Safety Chief Kevin Lenkart, Toys For Tots Coordinator Gerald Alcorn and Owosso firefighter Gordon Settlemyer. The department has teamed with Tim Hortons for at least a decade to hold this event and has raised well over $10,000 during that time. Captain Malott said he was “very proud of the community, which once again came through.” He also mentioned that the event would not be possible without Passmore, who volunteers his store every year for the fundraiser.
