Here’s a quick look at when severe thunderstorms may strike far southwest Lower Michigan and then persist into southeast Lower Michigan.

Severe thunderstorms will begin in northern Illinois around 6 p.m., according to the forecast animation. Severe storms may move into the far southwest corner of Lower Michigan, near Benton Harbor, between 7 and 8 p.m. Storms are expected to hit Grand Rapids, Lansing, Jackson, and Coldwater between 8 and 9 p.m.
Storms should weaken but remain strong between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m., passing through Flint, Saginaw, Bay City, and Ann Arbor. Finally, thunderstorms will hit the Detroit area between 10 p.m. and midnight. The storms should be less severe by 10 p.m.
