Thousands without power after storms, severe winds sweep through mid-Michigan

St. Charles, Michigan – Thousands of homeowners in mid-Michigan are without power after severe storms and winds hit Saturday morning.

According to the Consumers Energy Outage map, as of 1 p.m. Saturday, March 15, thousands of people in and around St. Charles, Garfield, and Saginaw Township, among others, are waiting for their lights to come back on.

According to the TV5 First Alert Weather team, strong but sub-severe storms with pea-sized hail moved through mid-Michigan early Saturday morning. Strong winds are expected to continue into Saturday evening, potentially leading to more outages.

Consumers Energy hopes to restore power to many customers by Sunday morning.
