Adrian, Michigan — A Michigan Democratic Party official slammed Trump supporters in a lengthy Facebook post on Monday, claiming that anyone who supports the president is a Nazi.
Bill Swift is the chairman of the Lenawee County Democratic Party. Swift ran unsuccessfully for a seat on the Lenawee County Board of Commissioners last year, but he remains active in county politics as the local Democratic Party leader.
According to Michigan News Source, Swift launched a tirade against Trump supporters on his campaign Facebook page on Monday. He stated that the Trump administration has “openly put Nazism on display” and made a passing reference to Elon Musk’s controversial salute on Inauguration Day.
“If anyone is unclear on the change in tone coming out of this pie hole just understand that I’m kind of not that interested in educating, informing, or otherwise reaching out to the folks that see billionaire Nazi salutes at the insurrectionist’s Inaugural celebration and makes excuses or post still pictures of Democrats caught waving,” said Swift.
Swift went on to call Trump and his administration “Nazis,” and claimed that anyone who supports them is a Nazi by association.
“The facts are fascist facts.” Swift wrote: “You are what you support and uphold.” “You have made your point. You align with Nazis. We do not owe you respect. We do not owe you explanations.”
The Michigan Democratic Party and Swift did not respond to requests for comment from The National News Desk on Wednesday about the Facebook post.
Lenawee County is a Republican stronghold that overwhelmingly supported President Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election. The president received 60.8% of the votes, compared to 37.8% for former Vice President Harris. Republicans hold all but one of the seats on Lenawee County’s Board of Commissioners.
