Recent research suggests that the world’s oldest pyramid was not built by humans. However, the scientific community is reevaluating historical assumptions and investigating ancient mysteries.
Discovering the structure’s origins over 25,000 years could enhance our understanding of pre-agricultural societies and their technological advancements. The Step Pyramid of Djoser in Egypt, built in 2630 B.C., is the world’s oldest pyramid.
However, a recent study conducted in Gunung Padang, Indonesia, suggests that a structure there may be even older. The study contradicts all preconceived notions about ancient civilizations’ architectural prowess by revealing that one of the pyramid’s deepest strata is 25,000 years old.
The Djoser known as the oldest pyramid on the planet, was not built by man
The scientific community has expressed interest in this finding, sparking global discussions. Although some archaeologists believe that the pyramid Gunung Padang exemplifies a sophisticated architectural design that defies civilization’s linear evolution, others doubt this.
According to the study, which was directed by Danny Hilman Natawidjaja of the Indonesian Institute of Science, Gunung Padang’s core is composed of carefully sculpted andesite lava.
According to experts, the building began as a naturally occurring lava hill before evolving into a massive structure. Scientists believe the building methods at Gunung Padang may have originated during the last glacial epoch, predating agriculture by about 11,000 years.
This suggests that those civilizations are capable of handling sophisticated architectural knowledge. According to the study, which was published in Archaeological Prospection, this site, as well as others such as Göbekli Tepe in Turkey, demonstrate that pre-agricultural societies possessed capacities that we have historically undervalued.
Natawidjaja and his crew have made claims, but criticism has quickly emerged. Archaeologist Flint Dibble from Cardiff University believes there is insufficient evidence to conclude that human activity altered the buried layers at Gunung Padang.
Dibble claims that without human intervention, the patterns could have evolved naturally. According to Southern Connecticut State University’s Bill Farley, the soil samples collected at the location were precisely dated but did not contain any signs of human activity, such as charcoal or skeletal bones.
Additional independent research has been requested by the scientific community
The scientific community has responded to these views by calling for additional independent research that can either confirm or refute the preliminary findings. In response to criticism, Danny Hilman Natawidjaja has invited foreign specialists to join the Gunung Padang pyramid investigation.
We welcome additional research to validate these findings. He believes that science should always be open to criticism. The co-editor of Archaeological Prospection also confirmed that additional research is being conducted on the piece, demonstrating widespread interest in this discovery.
