St. Patrick's DWI Enforcement Patrol Camera captures pursuit near Rangeline and 32nd

JOPLIN, Missouri – The weekend preceding March 17, St. Patrick’s Day, has traditionally seen the highest number of DWI incidents in the Joplin area.

Saturday evening, we saw Joplin Police and other agencies conducting DWI Enforcement Patrol at 32nd and Main.

The DWI Enforcement Patrol campaign consists of additional patrols throughout the city and county. This location, 32nd and Main, is central because it is on the county line and within the city limits.

Officers bring DWI suspects there to determine where they will be taken: Jasper County, Newton County, the Joplin City Jail, or a nearby hospital for medical clearance. They can also draw medical blood on-site, as well as administer breathalyzer and sobriety tests.

It is unclear how many people were arrested on suspicion of DWI. We will update the information as it becomes available from the authorities.

POLICE PURSUIT OF WHITE PICKUP TRUCK, CAUGHT ON CAMERA

Tipsters alerted us to a pursuit near 32nd and South Rangeline around 11 p.m. on Saturday.

Our good friend Steve Brown sent us a video of a white pickup truck traveling slowly with a long line of red and blues. As you can see in the video, an officer quickly spiked the tires as they turned onto 32nd.

We are told it was a felony stop with a suspected DWI driver. The male driver was taken into custody.
