SNAP Payments More $1,756 Deposits to Arrive This Week in TX

If you receive SNAP benefits in Texas, pay attention because February payments have already begun, and some families can receive nearly $1,000 in a single deposit this month and for the remainder of fiscal year 2025, which ends in September.

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), also known as food stamps, is a federal program that helps low-income families buy food.

In Texas, this program is critical for millions of people: approximately 3.5 million Texans rely on it to make ends meet, accounting for one out of every eight residents of the state.

How do SNAP payments work in Texas?

SNAP benefits are administered here via the Lone Star card, which functions similarly to a debit card but with dedicated funds for purchasing food at USDA-authorized establishments.

If you have any problems with your card, need to check your balance, or have questions about how to use it, please contact Texas EBT customer service at 1-800-777-7328.

SNAP amounts depend on the size of your household. In 2025, the maximum payments in Texas will be:

  • One person: up to $292 per month (average $199).
  • Two people: up to $536 per month (average $364).
  • Four people (average family): up to $975 per month (average $726).
  • For a family of eight, the maximum is $1,756 (average $1,317).

How to get the SNAP / Lone Star card?

If you don’t already have the Lone Star card, here’s an important fact: it’s the EBT card that allows you to receive and spend SNAP benefits in Texas. It works similarly to a bank card, but instead of being linked to a personal account, it is preloaded with your SNAP balance and, in some cases, cash assistance.

The simplest way to request it is to go online and use the official Texas Health and Human Services portal (just google HHSC). You can also visit a social services office in person or call the Texas SNAP hotline at 1-877-541-7905 for assistance with the process.

Dates for February Lone Star Card payments

SNAP deposits for February began on Day 1, and thousands of Lone Star cards have already received their balances. However, the exact date you will receive your payment is determined by the last digit of your eligibility determination group (EDG) number, but here is a schedule to help you know when it is due:

  • If your EDG ends in 6: you will receive your payment on February 11.
  • If your EDG ends in 7: your payment will be available on February 12.
  • If your EDG ends in 8: you will receive the deposit on February 13.
  • If your EDG ends in 9: payment will be credited on February 15.

If your payment has not yet arrived and you are within these dates, check your balance and, if necessary, contact customer service to resolve any questions.
