As community discussion intensifies on Apex Clean Energy’s proposed wind farm in Northwest Shiawassee County, the Shiawassee Economic Development Partnership (SEDP) has chosen to adopt a neutral position on the project. “The SEDP’s mission is to improve Shiawassee County’s economy through business attraction, retention and expansion, and our initial evaluation of this development indicated the potential for positive economic benefits to the community. However, we now recognize there are many significant stakeholder questions and concerns (both economic and non-economic) that have not yet been effectively addressed and deserve answers. As such, we are choosing to take a step back and be neutral,” Horvath said.

SEDP encourages the community to become more educated on the project and wants those interested to attend a moderated public information session with the Shiawassee Regional Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. at the D’Mar Banquet & Conference Center in Owosso. RSVPs are requested, and those interested may do so by calling (989) 723-5149 or email mperry@shiawasseechamber.org.
