Of the 51 Shiawassee County area wrestlers who competed in Feb. 18 individual regional wrestling tournaments, 26 have advanced to compete in the state final tournament at the Palace of Auburn Hills March 2, 3, and 4. New Lothrop led all Shiawassee County teams with nine qualifying wrestlers; followed by Corunna with six; Perry and Chesaning with three apiece; Owosso with two; and Durand, Byron, and Ovid-Elsie with one each.

In Division 2, Owosso will send Joe Vondrasek, who will compete in the 160-pound weight class, and Colton Blaha, who will compete in the 140-pound weight class.

In Division 3, Corunna will send Trevor Briggs (130), Dylan Briggs (160), Taylor Jackson (189), Luke Cortez (215), Jack Thayer (215), and Brandon Blair (285). Chesaning’s state qualifiers include Jordan Rodriguez (103), Trevor Patterson (160), and Hunter Gasper (171). Perry will send Anthony Gallagher (112), Jacob Spiess (125), and Kolten Lauer (171). Jerry Hall will compete for Byron at 152 pounds, Zachary Morris will compete for Ovid-Elsie at 189 pounds, and Gus Richter will compete for Durand at 135 pounds.

New Lothrop’s nine state qualifiers include Logan Wolford (103), Logan Zell (112), Tommy Malloy (119), Austin Wolford (135), Justin Carnahan (140), Cole Wendling (145), Zachery Riley (152), Austin Wendling (160), and Erik Birchmeier (189).
