Shepherd woman charged with home invasion

After following the footsteps of a woman who knocked on the door of his Porter Township home, a man discovered she was living in his nearby hunting cabin.

Sasha Stevens, 36, of Shepherd, was arraigned Monday and charged with felony third-degree home invasion and malicious destruction of property worth $200 to $1,000. She remains in the Midland County Jail on a $10,000 bond.

According to Midland County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Shannon Guilbeaux, the woman went to the man’s main house on Jan. 25 and appeared to be acting strangely. The property owner followed the woman’s tracks in the snow. He then discovered her living in his hunting cabin.

Deputies arrested Stevens on February 2.

“It seemed like she had been there for a while,” Guilbeaux said.

The cabin had a broken window, which investigators believe the woman broke to enter. Guilbeaux stated that the property had also sustained other damage.
