A SECOND LOCATION is in the works for the Vintage Barrel in Owosso. The first location, which opened in November 2017 on W. Exchange Street, and is owned/operated by Owosso residents Julie Chapko (Henson) and Cowboy Henson, is being expanded to include a second location on Washington Street, just north of O-Town Café. The second location should open early in February. Construction work is already underway. Having two Vintage Barrel locations will allow the couple to have considerably more space for partnering vendors. Several partners from Chesaning, Owosso and Lansing are already interested in leasing room at the Washington Street location. Merchandise will continue to include antique furniture and household items, vintage collectibles, gift items, assorted handcrafted items, estate items and auto memorabilia. The eventual goal will be for the Vintage Barrel to have the ability to do estate sales and even antique furniture restoration projects.
“I just had so many people wanting space and asking me for more, and I thought there was a need for a second location,” shared Chapko.
Cowboy is working on several projects at the Washington Street location, including refurbishing a bar from California that is made from authentic wine barrels. The bar will now serve as front counter space. An old Cervany glass case, along with some enormous doors salvaged from another Owosso business, will also be utilized within the space.
More partnering vendors are welcome, and numerous sized areas are available for lease – even “freestanding” small spaces for people who might have just a few items for consignment. All items will continue to be vintage, however, with nothing too modern, and no clothing unless it is vintage, too.
A website is also currently under construction.
When visiting the Vintage Barrel – either location – you just might meet the sweet canine store greeter. Her name is Mitzi.
