Mark your calendars for the Shiawassee Arts Center’s 45th Annual Countywide High School Scholarship Show and Competition, April 26 to 29. Scholarship awards will be available to students in Shiawassee County, Ovid-Elsie, and Chesaning.

A $500 Janis Kazen Award, which is given by the artists’ family, is granted to a graduating senior who plans on pursuing art at a college or university. The $350 Arlie & Rosemary Edwards Award is given in their memory, by the family. The Liz McEwan Award will be given in memory of the late patron of the arts by her family. Additional awards totaling $2,000 will be presented to students in grades ninth through twelth at a reception on Saturday, April 29 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Since the establishment of SAC in 1972, more than $75,000 in scholarships and awards have been granted to area students to provide them with recognition and financial assistance in their artistic growth. Scholarship information and application forms will be available at the high schools, Arts Center, and online at shiawasseearts.org by mid-February.
