The Shiawassee Arts Center is offering a four-week Calligraphy for Special Occasions class with Barb Holmer, Artist/Instructor from Flushing. The class will begin on Sunday, Feb. 21 and continue through March 13, from 1 to 4 p.m.
A beautifully written phrase, poem, or signature turns any occasion into a special occasion. In this class, review the basics of Copperplate calligraphy and practice writing messages for birthdays, anniversaries, or just to say ‘Hello.’ We will discuss layout, try a colored ink, and practice simple flourishes. Materials are provided for new students with a $10 fee; returning students, a $5 fee and they should bring all of their supplies. The cost is $65 for a SAC Member or $75 for a non-Member. An annual membership is $30 and a senior membership is $25. Pre-registration and payment is required. Early registration is encouraged. Call the Arts Center at (989) 723-8354.
