Police chase from Clinton County to north Lansing culminates in crash with significant injuries

LANSING — A Mason-area man was seriously injured after leading police on a brief pursuit that ended in a crash late Wednesday night.

A Clinton County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop the driver north of Lansing for suspected intoxication and “multiple traffic violations” shortly after 11 p.m., but the driver sped south on Business U.S. 127 into Lansing, according to a news release.

The driver ran a stop sign at Oakland Avenue and Cleveland Street, colliding with another vehicle.

The suspect, 48, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening, officials said.

His passenger, a 31-year-old Lansing woman, was hospitalized for minor injuries. The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash, a 26-year-old Lansing woman, was also hospitalized with minor injuries, according to police.

DeWitt Township police, Lansing police, and the Lansing Fire Department all responded. Lansing police are investigating the crash, according to sheriff’s officials.
