MICHAEL SIPKOVSKY of 317 Oakwood in Perry received recognition during the recent Perry City Council meeting as the September recipient of the “Perry Pride Award.”

As the September winner, Sipkovsky received a commemorative plaque and gift certificate from Darling’s Hardware as well as having his name engraved on a larger commemorative plaque that will be displayed in City Hall.

The focus of the new subjective residential award is to recognize excellence of residents in maintaining their home and yard, thus generating “Perry Pride.”

Councilman Karen Davis (right) nominated Sipkovsky as well as presenting the plaque and gift certificate to him during the council meeting. Davis also praised the following Honorable Mentions: Ralph Boice, 305 White Oak; Mary Piper, 309 White Oak; and Richard Rocki, 313 White Oak.

The October award, which is the final judging of the year, will be judged by Councilmember Christopher Powell. A map of the “Designated Neighborhoods” may be viewed on the city’s website, www.perry.mi.us. Look for the link under “Event Photos.” (Courtesy Photo)
