A fundraiser for the Patricia Carmody Memorial Scholarship Fund, an 18-hole, four-person scramble, will be Friday, Oct. 2, at Dutch Hollow Golf Course, Durand. Sign in will be at 9 a.m. with shotgun start at 10 a.m. with Skins and Mulligans; also 50/50 drawing. The cost is $50 per person/$200 for a team of four. Dinner and the prize presentation will follow immediately.

Patricia Carmody began her career in November 1947, as court stenographer at the Shiawassee County Courthouse, a position she remained at until her death in 2010. It is believed that she was the last court stenographer in Michigan using Gregg shorthand.

Anyone interested in golfing or sponsoring a hole for $50 is asked to contact Deana Finnegan, (989) 743-2373, or JoAnn Race, (989) 729-0071. Checks need to be payable to the Shiawassee County Bar Association; any donations are accepted.
