THE OWOSSO SKATE PARK is now in the early stages of construction as workers were on site over the previous few days to begin prep work. The base layer was placed down in mid-January after the groundbreaking event last December.

The skate park grant was approved by Owosso City Council over two years ago, and with numerous well-supported fundraising efforts through Owosso Parks and Recreation, funding for the skate park was achieved.

The Owosso Skate Park will be centrally located within Grove Holman Park on Owosso’s south side. Plans will utilize the former parking area and pool building in conjunction with the skate park. A DNR grant has been submitted to match funds from the recent parks millage to rehabilitate the pool building into a warming house and concession stand with extra storage for the park and sledding hill.

A section of the former pool house can be seen in the top left. The sledding hill was constructed in 2010 and the city demolished Grove Holman pool in 2011.
