“The Arc Shiawassee is excited to announce that it has been approved to open as a new Charity Poker Room in Shiawassee County starting in December,” said The Arc’s executive director, Lynn Grubb. “This will enable charities to apply for millionaire party licenses in the county – and players will be able to continue to play in a nice environment – and have access to a snack bar on site.
“The Arc Charity Poker Room will be opening our doors for business the second weekend of December. The first charity event will be sponsored by The Zonta Club of Owosso for Dec. 10, 11 and 12. Doors will open daily at 5 p.m. and tournaments will start at 7 p.m.
“Starting the week of Dec. 16 we will be open Wednesday through Saturday evenings on a weekly basis. Our supplier is Mark Merrill of Prime Time Poker in Howell.
“Persons may contact me, Lynn Grubb, at The Arc Shiawassee if you have a nonprofit organization or charity that would like to take a weekend starting in December at (989) 723-7377. Charities can volunteer up to four weekends per year. The Arc is at 1905 W. M-21, Owosso, right next to The Independent Newspaper Group’s offices. The Arc Shiawassee is a nonprofit that advocates for individuals with developmental disabilities.”
