THE NEW Shiawassee County Medical Care Facility, being planned for a 10-acre site Memorial Development Corp.’s “The Commons,” will be a one story, state-of-the-art facility, with plans moving toward a 2016 groundbreaking and occupancy in the latter part of 2017. It will replace the building on S. Norton in Corunna with 136 beds. The original section opened in 1953 with 78 beds, then more were added over the years.
