The 11th Annual Morrice Homecoming Festival, an Independence Day Celebration, is fast approaching. Mark your calendar for Saturday, June 25. The festival is a one-day event that brings families, friends, and the community together.
Brand new this year is the Culpepper & Merriweather one-ring Big Top Circus. Advance tickets are now available. Between 9 and 9:30 a.m. everyone is invited to come out to watch the raising of the big top, and then stay for the free tour. This tour includes a meet and greet with the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus family. Learn interesting facts about the performers, the shows history and the different species of animal in the show.
The circus will feature two 90-minutes shows, one show at 2 p.m. and the other at 4:30 p.m. The performances include a trapeze act, prancing ponies, wild and crazy unicycles, jungle cats, and much more.
The Webberville Garden Tractors Pulls are back again this year. Pulls are held on Morrice Rd., next to the tennis courts. Putt-putt golf, a petting zoo with pony rides, and crafters will also add entertainment for the family.
This year, the Morrice Methodist Church is hosting a rummage sale in the church basement along with the annual bike decorating contest.
Don’t miss the Grand Marshal Ceremonies and the crowning of the queen following the parade. This year’s Grand Marshal is Helen Ehl, a lifetime resident of Morrice. The festival concludes at dusk with an amazing firework display.
Please note there are still spaces available for crafters and volunteers are always needed. Even though the deadline has passed for sponsor board recognition, please don’t miss your chance to promote your business and help the festival financially. This festival is funded solely by your support. Without your help, there may not be future festivals (see website for current sponsors).
