The United Methodist Church Care Network is partnering with the Greater Lansing Food Bank to host the Mobile Food Pantry for Shiawassee County residents on Saturday, Sept. 16. Any county residents who are made to choose between buying food and filling prescriptions, or who are having a hard time putting food on the dinner table, are encouraged to take advantage of this free program.

The food pantry is free, and organizers will be distributing fresh and non-perishable food items at three different locations in Shiawassee County. Beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16, food can be picked up in the parking lot of the Comstock Inn and Conference Center, which is located at 300 E. Main St. in Owosso.

Food will be distributed until noon, or until all the food is gone. While the pantry is only open to Shiawassee County residents, families/individuals with limited or low-income jobs, and senior citizens on fixed incomes are welcome to participate.

Participants should bring proof of residency in Shiawassee County, such as a valid driver’s license or Michigan I.D., and one piece of mail containing their current address. Participants also need to bring boxes, bags, or containers to carry food. Anyone with additional questions about the mobile pantry can contact the Greater Lansing Food Bank at (517) 908-3680.
