Missing Lansing guy discovered dead in the woods west of Grand Ledge

Oneida Township — A 28-year-old Lansing man who had been missing since February was found dead on Sunday in the woods near Cochran Road and Eaton Highway, west of Grand Ledge, and police are investigating his death as a homicide.

Raequan Brown was last seen in February near Gier Park and a Taco Bell on North East Street in Lansing, according to the Lansing Police Department’s Missing in Lansing Facebook page.

Lansing police confirmed in a Monday afternoon press release that the body found by state troopers the day before was Brown’s.

State troopers began a death investigation after being dispatched to a wooded area in Oneida Township on Sunday afternoon due to the discovery of human remains.

The investigation on Sunday involved state agency detectives as well as K-9 teams.

“The subject is male but has yet to be positively identified,” they wrote on the social media platform X. “There is no danger to the public.”

The Michigan State Police and Lansing Police Department are actively investigating this case as a homicide.
