MIKE MALACHOWSKI, the owner of Dave’s Muffler Shop and Lucky’s Union Station Smokehouse, both of Durand, entertained the crowd in the burnout competition following Durand’s End of Summer Cruisin’ Car Show Saturday, Sept. 3. Mike is shown here sacrificing a pair of tires in his 1973 Jeep Commando, and his son, Zach, followed later in the competition with a hand-built 1941 Studebaker.
Cars came from all over Michigan for Durand’s 27th Annual car show, and local residents were strongly represented as well. Shown here are a few of Shiawassee County’s finest automobiles that were on display at the End of Summer Cruisin’ Car Show: A 1985 Chevrolet El Camino owned by Greg Drew of Durand; a 1958 Chevrolet Custom owned by Nancy Dice of New Lothrop; a 1929 Mercedes Gazelle owned by Diane Ray of Durand; a 1926 Bugatti owned by Bill Graves of Byron; and the “Mayor’s Award” winner, James Sumner’s 1957 Bel Air.
