Michigan's three-month weather outlook projected temperature and precipitation patterns

DETROIT — We are a little more than halfway through NOAA’s winter outlook, and the weather has been nearly opposite of what was predicted.

So take this with a grain of salt, but the most recent seasonal outlook for February, March, and April, which takes us through the end of winter and into Meteorological Spring (March, April, and May), shows most of Southeast Michigan with near-average temperatures and above-average precipitation.

So, what does this mean?

So, if this is correct, our average monthly high temperature ranges from around 35 degrees in February to nearly 59 in April. However, the average monthly low temperature ranges from about 21 degrees in February to 39 degrees in April.

Since normal temperatures dip below freezing but also rise above it during this three-month period, it’s nearly impossible to predict whether the above-average precipitation forecasted will result in more snow or rain.
