Michigan is going to get chilly, but Lake Michigan will safeguard us from a true Arctic blast

You may have heard about the “historic cold” that will hit the eastern United States. We’ll get a cold, but it’ll be typical for Michigan. For the rest of the country, it will feel historic.

Truthfully, Lake Michigan’s 40-degree water will act as a major barrier to true Arctic air.

The Arctic atmosphere is authentic. The Midwest will experience below-zero temperatures in the middle of next week. The Arctic air will move into the Southeast, lowering temperatures to well below freezing.

The coldest part of the Arctic blast will hit the eastern United States next Wednesday and Thursday. We’ll have an Arctic cold front sweep through from the north.

The following are the low temperature forecasts for next Wednesday and Thursday.

According to the low temperature maps for next week, temperatures in Michigan will drop into the single digits. West of Lake Michigan, and even south of us in Indiana, temperatures will fall below zero.

We will not have any record-low temperatures. Temperatures in the southeast United States will drop below freezing. The interior of Florida may even freeze.

Prepare for what many people in the United States refer to as “dangerous cold.” Guys in Michigan wear sweatpants when they grill hamburgers. It will be way too cold to grill in shorts.
