THE FOUR SEASONS GIFT Shop, operated by Memorial Healthcare’s Auxiliary, was highlighted by Pat Shaw-Urick as part of the history series for the Auxiliary’s 96th year when she spoke during the season-opening luncheon Tuesday, Oct. 20.
It was 1967 when the hospital board asked the Auxiliary to take over the gift shop, long operated with paid employees by the hospital, she noted. Late that year, Mary Alice Campbell hosted a meeting of those interested, and soon the transition was made.
Since then Auxiliary members have operated the gift shop, eventually named the Four Seasons Gift Shop, as a major fundraiser for donations to Memorial Healthcare.
Shaw-Urick noted that one of the early programs involved a number of hats “from over the decades” by a collector. To highlight that, hats which will be in the Owosso Community Players upcoming presentation, “Ghost, The Musical,” which opens Nov. 6, were displayed. (Independent Photo/BILL CONSTINE)
