LUCILLE JUNE HARPER of Perry will turn 105 years young on Tuesday, July 9. Lucille (Lucy) was born in Juneau, AK to Edward and Lucille (Perchuette) Caldo on July 9, 1914. Edward and Lucille moved Lucy and her sister, Annabelle, from Alaska when Lucy was just 7 years old to return to Michigan, settling first in Negaunee and then Lansing.

   On July 8, 1936, Lucille married Gordon M. Harper, settling on the family farm northwest of Perry. There they raised three sons, Gordon Jr., who resides in Avila, IN; Robert, of Perry; and Allen, who is deceased. Lucy has six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

Lucy worked at Universal Electric in Owosso, retiring in 1976. After retiring, Lucy and Gordon traveled extensively throughout the United States, including the Baja of California. Lucy and Gordon owned a cottage on Big Clear Lake in Arden, Ontario, where they enjoyed fishing, relaxing and many wonderful memories with family and friends.

   Lucy loves all sports. Especially dear to her are the MSU Spartans and Detroit Tigers. She loves gardening, sewing and all card games. Lucy is the oldest living member of the Perry Garden Club. Longevity runs in her family. Lucy’s mother lived to be 98 years old, while her grandmother lived to be 96 years old.
