JOHN ROSS (left) was honored by Durand Superintendent Craig McCrumb and the Durand Board of Education during the Monday, Jan 14 board meeting at Durand Middle School. Ross has retired after 26 years with Durand Area Schools, including 17 years as the district’s technology director. Ross also taught English and business at the high school and middle school.

“John’s career as a teacher speaks for itself, but when I think about John, the first thing that comes to mind is that he’s just a pure gentleman, through and through,” said Superintendent Craig McCrumb. “I think John defines what a gentleman is. He looks after other people, he is always thoughtful of others and he regularly sacrifices himself for the benefit of others. The type of person you have been over the past 26 years has made the rest of us just a little bit better.”
