All SSDI payments have been sent by the Social Security Administration (SSA) to people who started getting benefits before May 1997. Around the same time as people on SSI, they got their money on December 3. Also, if you were born between April 1 and April 30, 1997, and got disability benefits after that date, your payment date was December 11, 2024.
All of these people who get SSDI need to get ready for their January payment. First, you should know that the average payment will be about $1,580, which is $38 more than in 2024. If your disability payment is very low, you should expect even less money. If you get a $500 check every month, for example, your new amount after COLA will be $512.5.

SSDI eligibility and possible amounts in January 2025
If a worker has a qualifying disability, the Social Security Administration can send them monthly payments if they have been unable to work for more than a year because of their illness and have paid enough payroll taxes.
Because of this, if you have never worked, you can not get SSDI. It is very important to have enough work credits. If not, you will need to apply for Supplemental Security Income instead.
The most you can get in SSDI is now $4,018, up from $3,822. About $1,580 will be paid each month by Disability Insurance. But each person gets a different amount based on their work history, earnings, and age when they filed.
