THE 2ND ANNUAL GLOW OWOSSO ICE QUEEN KICK-OFF was held Saturday, Oct. 1 at Niche, 112 N. Washington St., in Owosso. Three candidates are vying for the title this year. Representing Respite Volunteers of Shiawassee is Laura Burroughs (from left to right), the 2015 Glow Owosso Ice Queen Athena Kurtz, Downtown Owosso Farmers Market is Susan Osika, and for Arc Shiawassee is Jan Beutel.
Ten percent of the money raised from each of the candidates will go to Glow Owosso, the rest of the money will go to each individual charity. Glow Owosso is an event put on by Owosso Main Street each year at Christmas. Owosso Main Street’s mission is to foster an active and thriving downtown that is the heart of the community by promoting historic preservation and drawing both local residents and visitors to Owosso.
Each Ice Queen candidate spoke about why they are running and why they are passionate about their charity. The Glow Owosso Ice Queen will be crowned Saturday, Nov. 19 at Curwood Castle and will ride in Owosso’s annual Glow Parade with Santa. (Independent Photo/Melissa Shepard)
