ROBERT LEE was recognized on Friday, Aug. 10 as the 2018 Honorary Member of the Shiawassee County Junior Livestock Association. Junior Livestock President Todd Janicek presented Robert’s wife, Norma, and the Lee family with an engraved plaque during the Junior Livestock beef auction.

According to Janicek, “Robert was a longtime supporter of the Shiawassee County Fair and the Junior Livestock Association. He started his youth career showing shorthorn cows at McCurdy Park, and years later went on to be a part of the Fair Board. He was one of the Board members during the move to the new fairgrounds, and he volunteered equipment and many, many hours of labor to make the fairgrounds what it is today.

“Robert met his wife, Norma (holding plaque), through 4-H, and together they had four children, 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, with two more to arrive next year. They were leaders of the Busy Farmers 4-H Club for 20 years. Three generations of the Lee family have shown at the Shiawassee County Fair. This year, two great-grandchildren exhibited livestock at the Clinton and Eaton county fairs.

“The Shiawassee County Fair meant a lot to Robert. He understood how much the Fair has an impact on younger generations, families and the community. He was proud to say he was a part of the Shiawassee County Fair and supported the Junior Livestock Association.
