KRISTIE BARTA’S kindergartners got into the holiday spirit on Wednesday, Dec. 4 by making three fleece blankets that will soon be donated to the Durand Senior Center. This is the second year that Mrs. Barta (left) and Blankets With Heart has donated blankets in the community. Blankets With Heart is a charitable organization that “unites blankets that were crafted with love with recipients in hospice, nursing homes, long term care center and shelters.”
This was, however, Mrs. Barta’s first time creating blankets with her students. The class spent the afternoon of Dec. 4 making the blankets. Assisting Mrs. Barta were volunteers Mrs. Bennett, who purchased and prepped the materials, and Mrs. Riley (both on the right).
