He entered your homes through television for decades. Al Allen, a Michigan Journalism Hall of Fame member, died at the age of 79, according to FOX 2 News, where he was a long-time reporter.
A family spokesperson told WJBK-TV that Allen died last night at a local hospital.
He started working at Channel 2 in 1984 and worked at WJBK until his retirement in 2012.
In 2018, he published a memoir titled “We’re Standing By,” which included stories from his journalism career.
According to WJBK, funeral and visitation details are still pending.
Allen’s wife died in 2023. They are survived by their son and two grandchildren.
