Grand Blanc, Michigan – Following an alleged threat, Grand Blanc High School was placed on lockdown, with a large police presence.
According to Grand Blanc City Police Chief Brian Lipe, an unknown suspect made serious threats against the school Wednesday morning, shortly before classes began.
Authorities immediately placed Grand Blanc High School’s East and West campuses on lockdown. Students were secured and locked in their classrooms while police conducted a building-wide search.
The adjacent Brendel Elementary School and Perry Center were also put into “secure mode.”
Law enforcement officers from throughout the area converged on Grand Blanc High School to investigate the threat. They included K-9 teams from several local police departments, which are trained to detect explosives.
Authorities searched the schools and secured every classroom and hallway in both high school buildings. Students were released in the morning hours after officers cleared them.
Students who drove to school departed in their own vehicles, while buses picked up and transported them home. All students left campus before midday.
Lipe stated that authorities found nothing suspicious during the searches. Investigators are shifting their focus to determining who made the false threats and apprehending them.
Grand Blanc High School will hold regular classes on Thursday.
