Downtown Owosso was a buzz of activity Friday, Nov. 25, despite the cold rain, as people gathered for all the festivities. The event included not only the Glow Parade, but also the 5K Glow Run/Walk. Santa and recently crowned 2016 Ice Queen Sue Osika participated in the annual lighting of the Christmas tree on the corner of Washington and Main. The event also included horse drawn carriage rides. Santa stayed after lighting of the tree to greet children and find out about their Christmas wishes.

The Glow Parade had a large number of entries, including Indian Trails, Signature Ford Lincoln, County Line Antique Tractor Club, Meijer, the Curwood Queen and attendants, Reeves Wheel Alignment, Rollhaven, ReMAX, Bellingar Specialty Meats, Slingerland Chryser Dodge, Congregational Child Development Center and the City of Owosso Fire Department, just to name a few.

Ice Queen Susan Osika rode with Santa in his sleigh. Osika was named the Ice Queen for raising $16,200 for Downtown Owosso Farmers Market since Oct. 1. She was crowned on Saturday,

Nov. 19 and part of the crowning opportunity included having her participate in this past weekend’s Glow Parade festivities.
