A woman from Genesee County is glad she bought a second lottery ticket while shopping at VG’s because it paid off with a large win.
The lucky player won $500,000 while playing the Lottery’s Cash Flurries instant game. She bought her ticket at the VG’s Quick Stop on Silver Parkway in Fenton.
Genesee County Woman Decided to Buy a Second Ticket
The player claims she usually buys an instant ticket once a week but chose a second scratch-off ticket this time.
“I usually just pick whatever ticket catches my eye,” explains the Genesee County woman to the Michigan Lottery. “I bought a Cash Flurries ticket and won $5, so I went back into the store and used my winnings to purchase another one.”
The player, who wishes to remain anonymous, went on to say that she knew the ticket was a big winner right away but returned to the store to confirm her win.
“I had the clerk scan it to be sure,” she explained. “When a message came back to file a claim, I knew I had really won!”
She’ll Put the Money to Good Use
The 67-year-old player intends to use her winnings to invest, help her children, pay down debt, and save for retirement.
“I told my children and husband first, but no one believed me until I called the lottery and had the prize verified. “I feel very blessed to have won,” she tells the Michigan Lottery.
