Children are invited to craft day and a girls night out movie showing this week at the Durand Memorial Branch of the Shiawassee District Library. There is also still time to participate in the Book Wars reading program for children.

A spring craft day will be held Thursday, March 10 from 4 to 7 p.m. Children may drop in to make some St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, and other spring themed crafts. Children of all ages are welcome, but preschoolers should bring an adult to help.

A Girls Night Out will be held Friday, March 11 at 6:30 p.m. Moms, daughters, and girls of all ages are invited to watch a free princess movie. A bracelet craft will be made during the evening, snacks will be served, and girls are invited to dress as their favorite princess. Due to licensing restrictions, the title of the movie may not be released to the media.

To participate in the Book Wars reading program, children are invited to check out and read library books then enter drawings for prizes. The prizes include Lego kits, restaurant and Amazon gift cards, and a copy of Star Wars: The Force Awakens when it is released on DVD.

For more information on these and many other programs scheduled during March, interested persons may call the library at (989) 288-3743 or visit the library’s website at www.sdl.lib.mi.us.
