Four Minors Arrested in Michigan Cannabis Store Burglary

Things have changed in Michigan since recreational marijuana was legalized for adults over the age of 21. This would essentially make cannabis a substance equal to alcohol, altering possession and use laws.

Since the legalization of cannabis in 2019, hundreds, if not thousands, of dispensaries have opened across the state; some have had to close, while others have thrived.

We can say with certainty that there is no shortage of inventory or competition for these dispensaries in Michigan.

Most of these dispensaries have armed security to deter anyone from doing something foolish, and some of them can provide that security around the clock.

For those who don’t, they hope that their cameras and good reputation will keep them safe. For the most part, this worked.

Unfortunately for this dispensary in Battle Creek, a lack of security resulted in an unfortunate event. Potter’s Cannabis Boutique, located on Capital Avenue in Battle Creek, was broken into on December 30, 2024.

The Battle Creek Police Department’s Gang Suppression Unit led the investigation and, working with other groups, gathered enough evidence to obtain search warrants. On Wednesday, January 15th, they executed the warrants and arrested four people.

Three of the four suspects are minors, and the fourth has just turned 18 years old. Police recovered a large amount of stolen marijuana as well as other evidence from the break-in.
