LANSING, MI – Marni Sawicki, former mayor of Cape Coral, Florida, is running for the Democratic nomination for governor of Michigan.
The 55-year-old Battle Creek native filed paperwork with the Secretary of State’s Office for the run after returning to Michigan in 2021 to work as the general manager of Crossroads Mall in Portage.
Sawicki is now the regional asset manager for Summit Properties USA, which manages Crossroads, Birchwood, Fashion Square, Lansing, Northwoods, and Westwood malls in Michigan.
She only served as mayor of Cape Coral for one term.
